Setting a Sample's Pin Color
The pin color of a sample may be thought of as a target or desired color for the particular sample. The curves will be changed to achieve this color, as specified by the pin mode of the sample. Curvemeister supports several ways to modify a sample's pin color.
The pin color of a sample is set automatically by dragging a pin onto the image to create a pinned sample. This section really describes how to modify such a pinned sample, or how to convert an ordinary eyedropper sample, which simply reports color values without modifying them, into a pinned sample.

Probably the simplest way to modify a pinned sample's color is to double click on the sample's sample pane, bringing up Photoshop's color picker. The picker will initially be set to the original color of the sample. If the sample was not pinned originally, it will be set to a default pin mode. If you are not the double-clicking kind, you may access the same command via a menu item. |

Several menu commands allow you to modify the source color. You may pin to the image's original color at the sample location, the current color after curves are applied, and Photoshop's current foreground and background color. The check mark indicates that you have used one of these menu items to set the sample's source color. As with the picker, if the sample was not pinned originally, it will be set to a default pin mode.

Finally, remembering that the curve is the thing, you may change the source color by dragging a curve control point that was created by the sample. Dragging the image sample point will reset the source color, but not the pin color. You may locate these points by clicking on the sample point icon in the image preview window. |
