Install Curvemeister on Multiple Versions of Photoshop

1. Most of us will be content to have Curvemeister installed only on the newest version of Photoshop, however is is sometimes necessary to run multiple versions of Photoshop on a single system. If that is the case for your system, this procedure is for you!

This procedure involves only the Curvemeister installer. This program is accessed by downloading the Curvemeister install zip file, and using WinZip to unzip the file. You may save the unzipped file to your hard drive, or double-click on the installer file within the WinZip application.

For this example, let's assume your system has PhotoShop 6 and Photoshop CS2 installed.

Start by doing a full install of Curvemeister, without changing any options. This will install Curvemeister will be in the Plugins folder of your newest version of Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

This is shown by the illustration on the right, in the bottom line of the Select Destination Directory dialog.

The plugin folder appears in the bottom line of the installer's Select Destination
Directory dialog. Click Next at this point to install Curvemeister for your
newest version of Photoshop or Elements.
.

2. Start the installer again, and Click No when the installer asks whether you wish to uninstall Curvemeister.

Be sure to click No the second time around!

3. This time, when you reach the Select Destination Directory dialog, click the Browse button, and select the Photoshop 6 Filters folder, as shown here.

Use the Browse for Folder. The full name of the folder in this case is
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 6.0\Plug-Ins\Filters

4. Complete the installation from that point, and Congratulations! You've installed Curvemeister for your older version of Photoshop.

5. If, like most of us, you have added more than one plugin to Photoshop, consider using a shared plugin folder to avoid having duplicate copies of your plugins.

This makes installation easier, and saves disk space.

This is configured in Photoshop using the Edit>Plugins and Scratch Disk menu command, shown in the illustration.

Photoshop's Plug-Ins & Scratch Disks menu item.

Cool people share their plugins, using the Plug-Ins & Scratch Disks option in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.

6. For example, I use a folder named d:Plugins for my third party addons, as shown here.

After you've set this up, specify this folder in the bottom line of the Select Destination Directory dialog when you install Curvemeister. Naturally, you'll need to do this for each version of Photoshop. After that, it's smooth sailing.

Note: always share your plugins in a separate folder. It is unwise to point one version of Photoshop at another version's Plugin Folder.
