Rescue My Image
« on: September 08, 2008, 06:53:17 AM »
One of the things we want to do each week is a "rescue my image" feature where you post an image to the class and everyone takes a shot at fixing it.  We want to include CM in the process but we also want to show how CM is a part of the larger workflow for image rescue.

Weekly, we would like an image from each of you for the class to repair.

Mike or I, sometimes both, will be trying to create a video of a solution that everyone can see for one or two of the images and the class will be posting their solutions as well.  The idea is to get more workflow and process information into the class so you know when and when not to use CM in image repair.

Please feel free to post an image into this string....
Let's see what we can do to "Rescue Your Image"

A beautify old image - rather hard to know how much to correct.

I'm going for a delicate enhancement to keep in style with the original.

So, FocusMagic (a couple of pixels), CM rgb & then 2nd Lab pass to add a little colour.  Probably too blue and the red shoes have gone brown.

I also tried doing it with Jacobs Ladder, but it wasnt a patch on CM.

I feel I'm missing something, but cant fathom out what.

HSB and Lab.That hat box throws me off.Every family had one,but how blue, how grey? Can't trust legs for skin tone,no women then would leave the house without stockings ,especially to travel.Guess the dyes fade at different rates.

Well GregM,

I picked up an action the other day, that takes an average of the colours and then you click on that colour, in a curves dialog to set a neutral.

So this is the result, with no further adjustments - not evern shadow/hilight
and beneath the average colours that the action found

Quite good really

Right.  The skin tones are, of course, the most important part of this image to get right.  I think the woman on the left is still a touch green maybe, but it’s decent.
